LeBron James about to extend his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers

NBA superstar LeBron James remains with the Los Angeles Lakers. As American media reports, the 37-year-old has agreed on a new two-year contract with the Lakers.

The maximum contract, which begins next summer, is worth over $97 million in total and also has a 15 percent trade kicker should the Lakers trade him to another team. If the salary cap continues to increase, the volume of the deal could also increase.

Also included is loud ESPN a player option after a year: James could leave the Lakers in 2024 of his own volition. A no-trade clause is not included in the contract.

With at least $97.1 million in guaranteed salary, James also surpasses Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant as the highest-earning player of his NBA career – in 2025 he will now be at $532 million.

James will rake in $44.5 million in the upcoming season. He signed with the Lakers in 2018 and won the NBA Championship in 2020. Last season, however, the Lakers missed the playoffs, and they can’t calculate any realistic chances of winning the title for 22/23 either.
