As media unanimously report, the multiple Brazilian martial arts world champion Leandro Lo (33) died after a brutal violent crime.

Also the Spanish newspaper “ Brand“ reports the death of Lo, describes the alleged course of events. Accordingly, Leandro Lo got into an argument with a drunk at a party in the 11-million metropolis of Saõ Paulo.

The suspect – according to media reports a police officer who is said to have been off duty at the time – is said to have initially tried to hit Lo with a bottle. Lo was able to convince the man to put the bottle away. Immediately afterwards, the alleged perpetrator drew a gun and shot the eight-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion in the head. Lo died from his injuries on the way to a hospital.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association reacted dismayed to the horror act. In a statement, the federation wrote: “Idol of a sport Leandro Lo is leaving us physically. We pay homage and homage to the man who helped and inspired so many people to wear the kimono around the world.”

It was only that year that Lo had won his last world title. He fought his impressive collection of titles in six different weight classes. Four times he was second on the podium at world championships.
