This fourth and last week of the Festival d’animations du Pays de Wissembourg, organized by the FDMJC d’Alsace, will be placed under the sign of the Vikings and a dive into Scandinavian culture. A panel of games and workshops is offered and a real pagan festival awaits the participants at the end of the week. The Ludothèque L’Arc en Ciel du Pays de Wissembourg will be present every day until Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
This Tuesday, August 9, throughout the afternoon: African drawing and dance workshop with the association Un Autre monde, sport corner. From 2 p.m., sorting workshop with Smitcom, creation of the secret of runic stones, making tree of life bracelets, sack race, DIY small Viking purse, giant Celtic fresco. From 3 p.m.: making a decorative longship and a treasure chest. From 4 p.m.: big treasure hunt “In the footsteps of birds of prey”. From 5 p.m.: big game “Wolf, crow, snake”.
Wednesday 10 August throughout the afternoon: African drawing and dance workshop with the association Un Autre monde, sport corner. From 2 p.m., sorting workshop with the Smitcom, creation of a Nordic blessing wooden wall plaque and the secrets of the runic stones, Viking trail, making Viking horns and shamanic drums. From 3 p.m.: making the warrior’s shield and a Viking helmet. From 4 p.m.: crafts “the crow puppet”, stories with holes, braided bracelets, collective game “The war of clans”. From 5 p.m.: musical chairs, creation of Viking badges, Scandinavian pixel art, Viking trail.
Thursday 11 August all afternoon: prevention games workshop with the Strasbourg family protection centre, sports corner. From 2 p.m.: sorting workshop with Smitcom, Viking trail, salmon fishing, creation of cairns, manufacture of floating longships and Viking race, sack race, reading of Nordic tales. From 3 p.m., pagan dance, big game “The challenges of the clan leaders”. From 5 p.m., big dodge ball game, creation of mini Viking banners, introduction to Scandinavian drawing, Viking trail, archery tournament.
Friday August 12, show day, with, from 2 p.m., make-up workshop, Viking headdress, Kubb game, photo shoot. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.: demonstrations of Viking combat, mixed duels, combat circle, discovery and craft workshops with the Odin Følgesvenner troupe (Historical Wars Association). At 8 p.m., Viking music concert with Hrafngrímr, which offers a modern and dreamlike interpretation of Norse mythology, connecting the contemporary world with ancient times. On-site catering (food truck and grills) in the evening.
Monday to Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the museum park, rue du Chapitre. The workshops are free, but some are subject to registration at the reception, on the festival site.
