Kyrgios-De Miñaur, duel of friends in Montreal

Friends, almost brothers. The duel of the round of 16 at the Masters 1000 in Montreal will put face to face for the first time Nick Kyrgios y Alex De Miñaur.

The 27-year-old “Bad Boy” knocked world number 1 Daniil Medvedev out of the tournament with an unplayable serve that has accompanied him in recent weeks and makes him one of the main reasons for the success he is having at the moment. In fact, he has only broken serve since the third set against Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and that was against Sebastián Báez in the first round earlier this week.

De Minaur, meanwhile, came to this stage after eliminating a couple of former Top 10 players. His four sets so far have dropped Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov. not bad for the top-ranked Aussie who started the tour with a title (in Atlanta) but failed early in Washington against Yoshihito Nishioka, who couldn’t do much against Nick Kyrgios in the same week’s final match.

The World No. 21 is one win away from making his first quarter-final appearance at Masters 1000 events.. He has played and lost eight round of 16 matches at this level so far in his career.

Davis Cup teammates so many times will have to be eliminated in Canada and… why not? Have fun.
