“It looks like a transfer is in the offing, but nothing has been signed yet,” said Cologne’s licensed player manager Thomas Kessler after the last home game against VfB Stuttgart (0-0) on Sunday. A day later, journalist Nicolò Schira reports that Kingsley Ehizibue is moving to Udinese Calcio.
According to the transfer expert, the deal is done! Ehizibue will receive a long-term contract with the Italian first division club until 2026. FC will receive a fixed transfer fee in the range of 1.5 million euros. Bonuses could come on top.
The transfer is particularly interesting given that regular right-back Benno Schmitz has suffered a serious ankle injury and will be out for a few weeks. Apparently, that doesn’t change anything about Ehizibue’s change. The 27-year-old is allowed to leave the club, it seems.
