Kevin Huerter hopes his playoff experience fuels the Kings

They say that experience is a degree, and that is exactly what Kevin Huerter wants to assert to do his bit and help Sacramento break a streak of 16 years without reaching the playoffs (the longest currently in the NBA).

The forward, who was transferred from Atlanta as soon as 2022 free agency opened, hopes that his years in the Georgia organization, with which he reached the Eastern Conference finals in 2021, will be one more boost for Sacramento to become a winning team.

“I feel like I’ve been through a lot out there, building up that playoff experience. Really the first thing I heard when they traded me here is how long it’s been since they’ve made the playoffs and how hungry everyone is to get there,” he says in an interview with Kings social media manager Jonathan Bradley.

Huerter’s desire is shared by all of Sacramento, but in any case he understands that beyond his experience he must contribute on the track, something that he is sure he will achieve as soon as he finds his place.

«My role will be to open the court. I think we have a lot of really good pieces. It’s a good group of guys. I think I fit in well with everyone here, although I know it will take a little time to find my space and what works for me here in this team », he analyzes.

Finally, he explains that although the personal performance of each player is important, to achieve the goals set, it is still above to promote a culture that runs through all levels of the franchise. “It’s everything. It starts with the front office, continues with the coaching staff, and goes all the way to the players. All of us new are very excited to end the Kings’ playoff drought.”
