Cáceres has begun to build its squad for the 2022/23 season once the renewal of its coach Roberto Blanco has been announced and the second move has been the continuity of Julen Olaizola. The Donostiarra interior will continue one more year in Extremadura and will be the second away from San Sebastián after its also second stage in the Acunsa Gipuzkoa Basket.

Olaizola has played 33 games with the green jersey in which he has averaged 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17 minutes of regular league play. Those performances have increased in the playoff to 5 points and 4.2 rebounds in twelve minutes.

Cáceres was one of the revelations of last season in the LEB Oro, staying at the gates of the Final Four for promotion to the ACB. With a squad a priori inferior to that of many rivals and that corresponded more to being in the lower half of the table, they finished eighth in the regular league and were eliminated in the playoff quarterfinals in the fifth game against Lleida.

The 29-year-old center from San Sebastian will host his friend Mikel Motos and company on matchday five, hosting Acunsa Gipuzkoa Basket in Cáceres on October 28. His first trip to his homeland in competition will be on March 5, when he will return to Illunbe, since the match against Juaristi in the first round will also be in Extremadura.

Cáceres has also renewed forward Carlos Toledo and announced this Thursday the signing of point guard Dani Rodríguez, who arrives from Palencia.
