The 27-year-old Spaniard, who could count on the interest of other Belgian but also foreign clubs, was charmed by the unionist project. On that day, at 17, he became the youngest Real Madrid footballer to play a Champions League match. A record that has not been broken since.

Rodriguez then traveled quite a bit between Turkey (Galatasaray), Germany (Mainz), Israel (Maccabi Tel Aviv) and the Netherlands (Fortuna Sittard).
