SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS.- Jennifer Peña (La Papy) will debut this Saturday, August 6 with the Yelda Trinidad team at the start of the semi-final series of the third superior basketball tournament with reinforcements from the Indians of the San Vicente club to be held in the sports center of the municipality of Castillo from from seven at night.
The reinforcement from Puerto Plata who last year led the Indies team of the San Vicente club to win the national tournament of FEDOCLUBES replaces the outstanding athlete Mary Coronado who got a new contract in the district tournament.
The prestigious leader of the Yelda Trinidad team Domingo Ortega (Moye) highlighted that Jennifer Peña will be making her debut tonight with the mamey and black team sponsored by the Fe Malta Foundation.
He argued that the hiring of Peña fits like a glove since the leader in points and attendance of the current tournament Mary Coronado was signed in the capital city to act in that event, so she cannot play in two tournaments at the same time.
He stressed that Jennifer Peña can play in several positions, which will give Yelda Trinidad’s squad greater depth to achieve the goals set.
“We are very motivated to reach the final series, we have a very close team to advance to the next round of this demanding event,” said Ortega.
He said that despite having lost both games of the regular series against the Emma Rivera quintet, things will be very different in the semi-final series.
“In the semi-final we have new approaches, what happened in the regular season is in the past, we will now focus on the semi-final and the girls are ready to face that great Emma Rivera team.”
