“I’ve never seen red for this. Trpišovský was mixed up by the expulsion of Ousou

Slavia football coach Jindřich Trpišovský was unpleasantly surprised by the expulsion of Aiham Ousou in the winning match of the fifth round of the first league on the pitch of the newcomer from Brno.

The Swedish stopper received a yellow card for shoving the substitute Musa Alli, but after the intervention of the video referee and watching the replays, referee Tomáš Klíma changed his original verdict and the match ended prematurely for the visiting defender in the 57th minute. Trpišovský has never seen a red card for a similar intervention.

According to the minutes of the match, Klíma sent Ousou off for thwarting an obvious scoring opportunity.

“It surprised me a lot and even more when I saw it now. I have to wait to see what the referee committee says. It’s a shame for me because the referee whistled well and that’s how the VAR (video referee) got into it with this thing. It’s a bit of a joke, the player will now be punished,” said Trpišovský at the press conference.

“I don’t want to discuss it too much, I always try to avoid it unless it’s a brutal game. I’ve never experienced a red card for such a moment in my life. If the referee had decided it on the pitch, but that VAR would step in and send him there (to the monitor ), is a terrible surprise for me. In the context of the fact that for some interventions, and I don’t mean today, there are no red cards and then the player is expelled for this, we were all surprised here,” added the 46-year-old coach.

The scorer of Slavia’s opening goal, captain Stanislav Tecl, was also surprised by the verdict. “When he drew the yellow card (after watching it on the monitor), I thought he was going to cancel it. I don’t know what to say about it so I don’t have a scramble for Strahov. We’ll see how the referees’ committee will deal with it,” said Tecl.

“I told the referee that the player would have run into the car or that he would have run along the goal line. He told me that according to the video, he would have finished it, he would have gone to the goal and to the end by himself. I don’t know if that was the case,” added the 31-year-old forward.

At the time, Slavia was leading 3-0 thanks to a successful first half, but Trpišovský was not at peace after the expulsion. “Anything can happen. It still flashed through my mind that some of the players could see the burden of Thursday,” he recalled the 2-0 win after extra time over Raków Czenstochová in the return match of the 4th preliminary round of the European Conference League.

“Zbrojovka had a great start to the second half. The first 10 minutes were all about whether we would add the fourth goal and completely break the match, or Brno would get back into it. I thought it would still be very difficult, but the fourth goal definitely broke the match ,” remarked Trpišovský, whose players won the fourth round in a row and lead the incomplete table by two points.
