Is that the case in your club too? (football, handball, volleyball)

Hello folks,

I (m18) started with judo when I was 8 years old.

At the age of 13 I gave up judo for school reasons.

However, I wanted to go back there all the time.

A year ago I returned to the club.

Things didn’t go that way because of Corona… but the main problem was something else:

There was nobody in the club who would suit me in terms of weight.

I either trained with weights that were way too heavy (with which I couldn’t learn anything),

or with too easy ones (with which I could not learn anything either).

There were only a few who were reasonably fit in weight (those were the ones I used to train with back when I was 13), but those are on the roster now.

And the problem is that our club trains in three different groups:

Small group, Large group and Squad group.

The big group can’t really be described as a “big group” because people with an average weight of 35 kilos train in this group.

I can’t train in the squad group because I’m not in the squad and the people there prepare specifically for certain tournaments.

That means I have to get into the squad so that I can train well.

But to get into the squad, I have to train smart…

When training was allowed again after the Corona period, three WhatsApp groups were created (for announcements).

I was put in a group and then removed again…

When I then asked why, they said they didn’t know which group to put me in. They said I should just come into the big group.

But as already mentioned, there is no one there that I could train with.

A lot has changed since I left the club at the age of 13… it was stupid of me to think that everything would be like it was back then…

The best moments for me in judo were when I went to tournaments with my friends and we cheered each other on… now it’s all gone, so I see no reason to stay in judo.

If I were you, would you leave the club, accept the fact that it can’t be the way I would like it to be and look for a new hobby?

Regards
