Martxán gives. The fifth stage of the Vuelta is already underway after the massive start it had in Irun. Thousands of fans have packed the streets of the Gipuzkoan town in a beautiful morning of cycling in which the followers have been able to see first-hand the figures that will fight for the red jersey that Primoz Roglic has released today.

La Vuelta has paid off the pending debt with Irun since 2020 and Paseo Colón has been the place where all the teams have met. Photos, signatures, shouts and ovations, but there have also been news.

The mayor of the city, José Antonio Santano, has transmitted that Irun is working to host a stage finish in one of the next editions, without specifying. The official request is underway and Juanma Garate, an illustrious cyclist and now director of Education First and from Irundarra, has already informally received the task of looking for a nice end of the stage.

On the other hand, Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France, was present at the start of Irun this morning and has also been the subject of requests. One of them, that the passage of the Tour next year in the third stage, be through the streets of Irun before leaving the Basque Country for France.

But those aspects belong to the future and the present indicates that a great show is expected this Wednesday with the double ascent to the Nursery in Bilbao.
