Innovation in Italy: Why Serie A no longer allows green jerseys – FOOTBALL INTERNATIONAL

Serie A starts its 91st season on Friday. For some clubs and fans there is an important innovation.

As the league decided last year, green jerseys will no longer be allowed to be worn this season.

Exceptions: Home jerseys may still be green. In addition, goalkeepers and referees may continue to wear green. The new regulation only applies to away and third kits.

What is behind the green ban? In the case of TV broadcasts, especially on smaller end devices, this is intended to prevent players from being almost indistinguishable from the green lawn. Goalkeepers and referees can still wear green jerseys.

Which clubs are affected? AC Milan have slipped into a green third kit. Can it really be played with? Still unclear. Sassuolo fans and those responsible can breathe a sigh of relief, their home jersey can remain green.
