Derby command from Hertha boss Bernstein
His first competitive game as a new player Hertha-Boss shit!
President Kay Bernstein (41) was emotionally involved in the stands in Braunschweig, cheered every Hertha goal with a clenched fist and high-fived his colleagues on the presidency. But in the end he buried his face in his hands in despair…
Cup out in Braunschweig with 9:10 after penalties!
Hertha had led 2-0 in regular time and 4-3 in extra time. Bernstein says: “I would have for the club, the fans, Sandro and Fredi (Trainer Sandro Schwarz and manager Fredi Bobic – editor’s note) desired progress. Now we have to straighten our crown and look ahead – to Köpenick – and do better there!”
Bernstein expects the Hertha professionals to get more out of themselves in the derby: “In the derby we have to do more yards. It was a good 60 minutes in Braunschweig, but after the 2-0 lead we were perhaps a little too confident – that was my feeling. We suddenly made too many mistakes. In Köpenick we have to march for 90 minutes.”
Amber is in good spirits!
He continues: “We now have to shake off the negative and take out the positive. Our players created more chances to score in the cup than they have in a long time. We saw where the path could lead. A Dodi Lukebakio, for example, was really up for it again, which gives me hope – also with a view to the future and to Köpenick.”
After the president’s competitive game premiere in the cup went wrong, Bernstein now wants to celebrate a derby victory at the start of the Bundesliga!
