Grosseto tripped Fortitudo baseball in the last match of the regular season. Now head to the Scudetto play-offs

The last fails sweep to UnipolSai Fortitudo, who won the series against Grosseto 2-1 but lost in Race 3, thanks to the beautiful home run of the former Paolino Ambrosino. Grosseto thus celebrates with a deserved victory at the “Gianni Falchi” the return to the semifinals after 14 years, where they will face San Marino which awaits the return of pitcher Tiago Da Silva for the finals. Fortitudo baseball, for its part, closes the regular season with fewer defeats of all and in the semifinals will meet the European Champions of Parma.

Race 1 – Fortitudo-Grosseto 1-0

That the last weekend of the Poule Scudetto would have been all to be played was already guessed on Friday evening, with the starting pitchers Raul Rivero and Jonathan Carbo able to really concede only the crumbs to the opponent’s attacks. At the top of the 5th inning the score is still 0-0 and also the count of hits is decidedly low four for the hosts and only one for the guests, with the Fortitudo one step away from taking the lead to the fourth, but without succeeding.

In the lower part of the fifth, however, a very slight decrease of Carbo concedes consecutive due basi ball to Kevin Josephina and Gonzalez Taveras, with the former stealing the latter during the second’s serving time. With Martini eliminated to the plate, Gilmer Lampe performs a nice bunt with which he is eliminated but which allows Josephina to let in the first and only point of the evening.

A point well built by Effe which proves to be fundamental, because in the sixth inning they go up on the mound Gonzalez Polanco and the former Antonio Noguera that do not make the two starters regret. The Fortitudo pitcher concedes only one valid e closes it shutout bolognesewhile the second does not grant anything to former teammates, who thus only win 1-0.

Race 2 – Fortitudo-Grosseto 6-2

The first challenge on Saturday instead it seems to begin with attacks. Grosseto starts strong and after having filled the bases following a base ball, a defensive error and a hit by the Bolognese starter Filippo Crepaldi, thanks to Sgnaolin’s validation he immediately scores two points. Guests immediately ahead 2-0.

At the change of field, however, there isimmediate reaction of the Eagle. He opens the dance as usual Ricardo Paolini with a double (ground rule double), the white-blue player then advances to third on Bertossi’s sacrificial sprint and arrives home on the choice of the defense on the serve of Josephina. And then Gonzalez Taveras takes a base ball and steals the second in Lampe’s turnwho also arrives in base for ball, with Alessandro Deotto filling the pillows in the same way. In the batting box it shows up Alessandro Grimaudo who does not miss the opportunity: his sprint of sacrifice brings two points to Fortitudo who closes the first inning with a 3-2 lead.

The match, which seemed born for the attackers, in the second inning it returns to the pitchers, with Crepaldi and Cozzolino reaching the end of the fourth without taking any more points. The difference is once again the roster strengthbecause while the hosts start the rotations with Andretta and Bassani able to close the match without increasing the Bolognese passive, the same thing fails in Grosseto. At the fifth inning the first Tuscan relief is baptized by a triple di Josephinathen sent home from the single by Lampeand on the sixth the new relief of Grosseto undergoes two more points thanks to double by Gonzalez Taveras pushing home Fuzzy e Marrowfor the definitive 6-2.

Race 3 – Fortitudo-Grosseto 0-1

Grosseto goes back to the last gamethat of Saturday night, going to place one shutout which interrupts Fortitudo’s streak of victories and which emphasizes, if ever it were needed, the quality of one’s training. There is very little to say about the race itselfat Fortitudo he loses 1-0 and may have the regret of having left six men on base, but the defeat is above all thanks to Grossetowhose starting, Gonzalez Valera, dominated 5.1 innings before being substituted, during which he conceded 4 hits, noting 54 strikes out of 77 pitches. Bulfone and Noguera complete it shutout of guests.

Not that the Gouvea-Scafidi couple didn’t work wellas the two have conceded a total of 3 validone less than Grosseto, only one of these has been transformed by the former Paolino Ambrosino in a long home run that broke the incredible balance of the match. In the sixth inning the visiting manager has the intuition of the evening: with two outs and no runner on base, he replaces Barcelan in the batting box with Ambrosino who after having suffered a strike and hit a foul, detaches thehome run of the victory for Grosseto.

Not bad for Fortitudo, which had already qualified for the semifinals as before the Group B for some time. Now it’s time for the Scudetto play-off and from the next match against Parma any defeat could mean the end of the run-up to the Italian title. Side note of some importance: the nine innings return from the next game.
