Golf: Three dissident players ask for their reinstatement by the courts – rts.ch

Three players engaged in the breakaway series LIV Golf and suspended from the PGA Tour for this reason, will try to obtain the right to re-enter the final stages of the PGA Tour in a US court.

The hearing will take place on Tuesday in court in San Jose, California, for Americans Talor Gooch and Hudson Swafford, as well as Australian Matt Jones. They want to obtain a referral to prevent the final stages of the PGA Tour, also richly endowed, from starting without them.

Gooch, Jones and Swafford are among a group of 11 players now involved in the LIV Golf series, launched in June, who opened anti-trust proceedings against the PGA Tour on Wednesday, saying it acts as a monopoly . They are all suspended indefinitely after participating in one of LIV Golf’s 3 tournaments since June.

Jones, Swafford and Gooch had already qualified for the final stages of the PGA Tour, dubbed the FedEx Cup, before joining LIV Golf. They therefore want to be at the start of the 1st tournament, next Thursday in Memphis.
