Kindai Wakayama is known as one of Wakayama’s leading preparatory schools, sending more than 2,000 students to national and public universities in the past 10 years, and some successful private universities every year. The junior and senior high school has a combined judo club of about 10 men and women, but Sakashita has participated in the national tournament three times since the second year of high school.
Hoping to go on to a high school where there is a high possibility of going on to a national or public university, he passed from Wakayama Kishi Junior High School to Kindai Wakayama. Perhaps because of his good performance in the entrance exam, he was assigned to the “Super AD Course”, which is a selective class in the first year. However, it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school, when I requested to join a regular class, that my studies and club activities began to really take off.
At Super AD, it was difficult to keep up with high learning levels while doing club activities. There are more classes than regular classes, and some days of the week you may join the Judo club midway through practice. In addition, I was instructed to take four hours of study time at home, but when I got home and finished eating, it was past 10 pm.

In the summer of my sophomore year, I was able to sit at my desk at home and almost never miss a minimum of review. Sakashita won the Wakayama Inter-High preliminaries and got a ticket to the whole country for the first time.
When I was in junior high school, there was no instructor at school, and I couldn’t win the prefectural tournament, but I learned the basics from scratch at Kindai Wakayama and improved quickly. In the winter of his sophomore year, he finished third at the Kinki tournament.
