FC Bayern Munich have confirmed the transfer of Tanguy Nianzou. The defensive talent is moving to Sevilla FC for a high fee.

Update from August 17, 5:20 p.m.: FC Bayern has now officially confirmed the transfer. Tanguy Nianzou moves to Spain to Sevilla FC and signs a contract with the Andalusians until 2027. Bayern receive loud Kicker 20 million euros for the 20-year-old defensive talent, and the Munich team also secured a return option.

“We signed Tanguy Nianzou two years ago because we believe in his great potential. Nothing has changed about that,” said sports director Hasan Salihamidzic in the club’s announcement on Wednesday. “At the moment, however, we have a very good and flexible defensive line-up. It was now the player’s express wish to get more bets. We wanted to give him the chance of more playing time in this phase of his career and have therefore agreed on a transfer with FC Sevilla. We’ll be watching Tanguy’s development closely because Bayern have the option to bring him back to Munich. Sevilla FC are getting a great and very talented boy.”

Nianzou joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer two years ago. At the time, Salihamidzic was happy about “one of the greatest talents in Europe”. The Frenchman was never able to meet these expectations and only played 28 competitive games and one goal for Bayern.

FC Bayern: Nianzou transfer before completion – medical check in Seville

Update from August 17, 09:33: Tanguy Nianzou traveled to Spain with his entourage on Tuesday to complete his medical check at FC Sevilla and consequently sign a contract with the record Europa League winners. As videos and photos on Twitter show, the 20-year-old centre-back landed at Seville Airport. Now only details have to be clarified, including details of the resale right that Bayern want to secure for the Frenchman and the transfer fee, which is said to be around 20 million euros.

Update from August 16, 3:48 p.m.: But that went pretty well! As transfer pope Fabrizio Romano reports, FC Bayern and FC Sevilla agree on a change from Tanguy Nianzou.

Accordingly, the Munich collect 20 million for the central defender, who signs a contract with the Andalusians until 2027. However, Bayern have a buyback option. In addition, the medical check-up is due soon.

FC Bayern: Is defending talent Tanguy Nianzou fleeing to Spain?

First report from August 16, 11:34 am: Munich – FC Bayern’s season opener is impressive. After the 5:3 Supercup victory over Leipzig, Munich started the new Bundesliga season with two threes. The previous goal difference of 8:1 already shows that Bayern have an intact defense. Coach Julian Nagelsmann relies on the duo Lucas Hernández and Dayot Upamecano in central defense, but even 67 million new signing Matthijs de Ligt has to stand in the back. So defensive talent Tanguy Nianzou is currently in an even more difficult position than before, and he could now change.

Tanguy Nianzou only number four central defender – 20-year-old with little playing time

Frenchman Nianzou joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 as a young hopeful, which caused frustration among the capitals given his talent. The 20-year-old should be introduced to the first team at Bayern. However, injuries slowed him down in his first season, which is why he only made six appearances. In his second season, he made 22 appearances, four of them in the Champions League. But the Frenchman couldn’t really assert himself with the record champions.

This season, the U20 international’s situation has even deteriorated, with the transfer of star defender Matthijs de Ligt, he slipped further down the hierarchy – and has not played a minute this season. Three central defenders are currently in front of Nianzou, plus right-back Benjamin Pavard, who can also play in the more central position. This circumstance is apparently causing Bayern to give up the native of Paris.

Tanguy Nianzou to Spain? Transfer expert reports on “advanced talks”

As the well-known transfer expert Fabrizio Romano writes, Nianzou is said to be about to move abroad. The Spanish first division club FC Sevilla should therefore advertise for the 1.91 meter man. As Romano writes, both sides are said to be in “advanced talks”. Negotiations with Munich are said to be already underway, and Sevilla want to complete the transfer this week. According to tz information, the deal should ideally include a buyback option and financial participation in a possible resale.

The Andalusian giants are said to be Nianzou’s priority target, Romano continues, which is why talks are progressing well. Now it seems that Hasan Salihamidzic’s negotiating skills are important again, who this summer already peddled reservists such as Omar Richards (8.5 million euros), Marc Roca (12 million euros) and Chris Richards (12 million euros) for relatively large amounts.

Nianzou, who has a contract with FC Bayern until the summer of 2024, could bring more money into the coffers. After the 2-0 home win against Wolfsburg on Saturday, the FCB leaders did not want to answer specifically whether the squad will change this summer due to transfers.

“The transfer market is still open for two weeks. But all in all we’re done,” said Oliver Kahn. Sports director Salihamidzic didn’t look at his cards either and said: “We’ll see what happens on the transfer market, it’s still open for a few days.” So it will remain exciting until the transfer window closes on September 1st.
