His coach explains it like this: “He’s making good progress. We just made the decision because Lucas (Hernandez, ed.) and Upa (Dayot Upamecano, ed.) did very, very well in the first half in Leipzig. There was no reason to change anything now,” said Nagelsmann before the game on DAZN.

Bayern coach continues: “I also said at PK that every player must have the ability to perform at their best. Matthijs just had less training than the other players because he only had four days of preparation at Juve when our players had nine days. He’ll soon have made up for the five or six days and then of course he’ll be a candidate.”
