F-1 leading team “Red Bull” extends cooperation agreement with “Honda” – Motoru sports

After the 2021 season, “Honda” officially gave up the role of engine supplier, but agreed to continue to help “Red Bull”, concluding a contract for two years, which ends at the end of the 2023 season.

The new contract is valid for another two years – until the end of the current technical regulations, as the new regulations will enter into force from 2026.

It is also said that Porsche could return to F-1 as Red Bull’s partner.

“Red Bull” driver Dutchman Max Verstappen is the current world champion and the leader of the 2022 season, and “Red Bull” is also moving towards its first Constructors’ Cup since 2013.

“Red Bull’s partnership with Honda has been incredibly successful and we are delighted that it will continue until the end of the current era of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) engine regulations in 2025,” team principal Christian Horner said in a statement.

Verstappen is the leader in the World Championship standings with 258 points, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari is second with 178 points, while Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez is in third place with 163 points.

In the constructors’ cup, “Red Bull” has 431 points, “Ferrari” follows with 334 points, and “Mercedes” is third with 304 points.

Last year, Verstappen clinched his first career F1 world title on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ahead of seven-time champion Hamilton, with whom he was tied on points before the final stage.

This season, the F-1 calendar has 22 stages.
