Eduardo Herrero dies, one of the great technicians of Spanish canoeing

The world of canoeing mourns the death of Eduardo Herrero Álvarez, one of the great coaches in the country, who has lost his life at 82 years of age.

On the other hand, Walter Bouzán Sánchez (El Sella), Juan Oriyés Mateo (Covadonga Group), Pelayo Roza Fonticiella (Fluvial de Lugo), Pedro Vázquez Llenin (Kayak Tudense), Miriam Vega Manrique (Covadonga Group) and Carla Corral de Coro ( Club Sirio-La Llongar de Cangas de Onís), this first-year sub-23, will be the Asturian paddlers who come to Munich, where the 2022 European Championship will be held, which promises strong emotions and many medal options.

Spain attends the event with 42 athletes who will try to improve the results achieved last year in Poznan. In fact, 14 paddlers who fought in Canada will be present at the Munich event, including five medalists: María Corbera, silver in the C-1 200 and bronze in the C-1 5,000, Paco Cubelos, bronze in the -K1 5,000 and three of the gold components of the C-4 500, Adrián Sieiro, Joan Moreno and Pablo Graña.

The European Championship Munich-2022 will encompass a total of nine European championships (athletics, cycling, triathlon, climbing, beach volleyball, table tennis, rowing, gymnastics and canoeing), with the Bavarian city being the center of attention for European sport during the eleven days in which the championships last. Canoeing will not start until August 18 and will end on Sunday 21.

The tests will take place at the Munich Olympic Regatta Centre, a sports complex that was the venue for canoeing at the 1972 Munich Olympics and has been remodeled for the occasion. The track has a total length of 2,235 meters and nine lanes. An ideal location where more than 650 paddlers from 45 nations will fight for the 41 European champion titles at stake.
