Diana Taurasi will no longer be on the WNBA courts this season. The 40-year-old Phoenix Mercury guard had to end his season after injuring his right thigh during the match against the Connecticut Sun on August 2.
The five-time Olympic champion and three-time NBA champion, voted the greatest player in WNBA history by fans at the end of 2021, became, on July 29, the first player to have scored at least 30 points in a game beyond 40 years old. The Mercury, in the race for a qualification in the playoffs, loses its major asset.
