Götze equal Frankfurt boss

Mario Götze (30) is back in Germany – and how!

The 2014 World Cup hero led Frankfurt 4-0 in Magdeburg into the second round of the DFB Cup. In his first competitive game for Eintracht, Götze is the undisputed boss on the pitch – and is involved in all three goals!

4. Minute: Götze pokes the ball into Kostic’s run on the outside left. He serves Kamada in the back room. Precise conclusion in the lower left corner. 1:0!

32. Minute: Götze plays a wonderful long ball down the run of Knauff. It fails because of FCM goalkeeper Reimann, but Lindström hits fantastically from 20 meters! 2:0!

59. Minute: After a throw-in, Götze passes it on to Borré. After losing the ball, the ball lands back at Kamada, who again fits perfectly into the short corner. 3:0!

Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner (47) brings Götze (who came from Eindhoven thanks to a clause for 3 million euros) in the 3-4-3 formation as a hanging lead. The coach praises the ARD: “That was excellent! Mario moved great. How he goes past the opponent with the first contact, who uses strikers. When things get tight defensively, finding a solution is the highest art – and Mario showed it today.”

Striking: Almost every dangerous attack by Frankfurt starts with Götze. The ex-BVB and Bayern star shines with many well thought-out campaigns. Götze can be found everywhere on the pitch, structuring the flexible Frankfurt game with important ball wins and clever passes.

Götze: “It was fun! We look forward to the season. When it finally starts, that’s great. It’s evolved very well over the time we’ve had. It was a good decision for me, it feels good. The complete package feels right to me.”

Strong: Eleven kilometers were the most on the pitch when he was substituted (79th)! 61 ball contacts and won 58 percent duels complete the top impression.

Sports director Markus Krösche (41): “Mario has an incredible amount of experience. We have a lot of young players, so players like him are extremely important. Last year we had problems finding solutions in the last third. Of course, Mario has his strengths there. At the same time, he has a footballing quality that we didn’t have in our team.”

Götze and Frankfurt – that seems to fit perfectly!

The Eintracht victory in the second division promoted is only once at risk. Two minutes after the 1-0, Tuta fouled Magdeburg’s Scienza in the penalty area – but Trapp saved Müller’s weak penalty (7th). In the end, Alario even made it 4-0 (90′).

What clouds the top mood in Magdeburg: The second half starts late because Frankfurt chaos ignites several Bengalos and shoots eleven (!) flares onto the pitch. After that, Magdeburgers ignite for a good 15 minutes.
