Destiny 2 Arc 3.0 Redesign Aims to “Go Fast and Hit Stuff”

Bungie has teased all the details of Destiny 2 Arc 3.0’s upcoming FPS game overhaul. This design philosophy leads directly to Arc 3.0’s first major buff – Amplified. When amplified, Guardians become faster (affecting both movement speed and weapon handling) and more agile, with the ability to perform long glides.

By default, all Arc classes will become amplified after quickly defeating targets with Arc damage, and equipped Aspects and Fragments can provide additional benefits. Bungie describes the speed boost and extra slide gained by an amplified guardian as “a full Metroid speed boost mode, only Samus now uses Gjallarhorn.” Once the Speed ​​Boost is active, it will remain as long as the Guardian continues to sprint, even if the Boosted status drops.

Two debuffs are also joining as part of the Arc 3.0 revamp – Blind and Jolt. Blinded opponents in PvE will be disoriented and unable to fire their weapon, while blinded PvP opponents will experience a whiteout effect alongside the temporary removal of the HUD and a sound effect described as similar to your in-game flashbang grenade average video. Perhaps most notable among the changes for hunters is the return of the Blink movement ability. “Blink hasn’t really been touched since the release of Destiny 2, and never quite reached the heights of its previous reign of terror,” Humbolt explains, “We thought it was a good time to back off a few of the setting changes a bit and increase the power of Blink initially without needing an Exotic equipped. These buffs will also be applied to other classes that can use it, such as Void Warlocks.

Hunters also see the return of the Arc Staff Super, but they will also have access to an all-new Arc-themed Super called Gathering Storm. This sees the hunter leap into the sky, throwing their staff into the ground and creating a damaging flurry that applies Jolt to nearby enemies. Shortly after, a giant bolt of lightning strikes the staff and overloads it, creating a large area dealing damage over time for several seconds.

Somehow, Emperor Palpatine returns once more – this time as one of the obvious design inspirations for Arc 3.0 Warlock. “We wanted the player to feel like they were channeling the power of the storm through their body,” Dunn explains. The two Supers available will be Chaos Reach, delivering concentrated beams of Arc energy fired from the hands, and Stormtrance, the Super that best evokes the Sith Lord by causing Guardians to float around the world by firing raw electricity from the ends of their hands. fingers.

“The ultimate goal of the Arc Titan is to punch you in the face,” Humbolt says of the Arc 3.0 redesign for third class, “so a lot of what we did for Arc Titan was try to understand how we facilitate the fist to -contact the face as much as possible. In addition to the speed boosts provided by the new Amplified effect, Arc 3.0 sees the return of Fist of Havoc and Thundercrash Supers. One of the biggest changes for Titans will be the addition of a Thruster ability that resembles a Hunter’s Dodge evasion abilities. With the double press of a button, the TItan can perform a quick evade in the current direction of the throttle, giving it huge mobility options. A brand new charged melee called Thunderclap can be built to the level where it can shoot Guardians in PvP at the 90% charge mark (the team noting comic anime One Punch Man as an obvious reference point).

Several shards are also teased to complement the new Arc 3.0 subclasses. Spark of Beacons cause blinding explosions when killing Arc special weapons. Spark of Resistance grants increased damage protection when surrounded. Spark of Momentum will reload your weapon and grant melee energy when you swipe on ammo. Spark of Shock will also cause Arc Grenades to deliver the Jolt debuff to all enemies hit.

Lightning gains an additional charge and Shocks targets on the initial explosion. Storm creates a roving storm cloud that moves and follows enemies, firing lightning bolts at the ground below.
  • Appearance: juggernaut – While sprinting and with full class ability energy, the Titan gains a frontal shield that blocks incoming damage. When amplified, the shield is stronger. Once the shield is depleted by taking damage, the player’s class energy is depleted.

  • Skin: Arc Soul – The warlock casts a rift to create an arc soul that will aid the player in battle. Allies who cross the rift will also gain a Soul Arc. Rift charges faster when allies are close. When amplified, any Arc Soul you own or earn is supercharged, increasing its rate of fire.
  • Aspect: Lightning – The Warlock activates his melee while sliding to transform into a ball of lightning and teleport forward, calling down a field of lightning at the exit point targeted by Jolts.
