Daria Kasatkina: “I think I took the right step”

The world has reacted positively to the statement of a professional tennis player, Daria Kasatkina, in which he announced and manifested his sexual orientation. Brave, happy and free, the Russian spoke for the web from WTA.

A support that, as she indicates, has been unconditional. Other tennis players like Coco Gauff, applaud the decision and hope that, little by little, this type of externalization does not surprise. Luckily, having examples like the one given by Toliatti will make everything easier.

About the reaction it generated

As the protagonist points out, protection has come from many sources. Her number of followers has increased and it doesn’t look like she’s going to lose them. As Daria herself says: “I’m very happy about it. As I saw, it was not only a good thing for me, it also helped other people. That’s great and I feel great. I feel happy about it and myself and that’s the most important thing.”

One who has surprised for good, went to Naomi Osaka. The Japanese thanked her for her bravery as follows: “I think we have to come together to support her because it’s a bit of a dangerous situation. But I think in all of that it’s really amazing that she comes out of the closet and stands up for what she believes in. I always support her.”

Your news and your personal challenge

In the San Jose WTA, a tournament she is currently playing, Daria enjoys her partner (Olympic figure skater Natalia Zabiiako). Showing herself to everyone, the tennis player added: “I think I took the right step. With the situation in the world, all these things that are difficult, when if not now? Let’s put everything in the same group.”

Beyond these confessions, the number 12 in the world, who managed to become champion on Californian soil, is in an unbeatable sporting moment. A maturity that she herself emphasizes: “I am 25 years old, I have to act now. I have to show everything I have in these years. I think this is the time to give more than take.”

After declaring her state of well-being, the tennis player ended by launching a challenge: “This is the point that decides who is the best, who deserves to go to the Final Eight. Whoever passes this challenge will win this golden ticket to go there.”

She can achieve it (she occupies the sixth position in the Race), since her life and her future, ultimately, only depend (and should depend) on her.
