Crazy Chicklets wrestle league leaders Split

In the third attempt, the Crazy Chicklets managed their first win of the season against the Vienna Wanderers.

After the second in the table had to admit defeat twice at the start of the season, the team from Wr. Neustadt in the first game of the double header. Both teams got off to a strong start. After Louise McGarry got on base, Alexis Allan hit a home run and scored the first 2 runs for the Chicklets. After another run, the Wanderers’ defense, with Olivia Bettstein in the circle, made the third out. Starting pitcher for the Chicklets was Paula Leinweber. The Wanderers quickly adapted to them and also scored 3 runs with a few hits. Both teams also scored in the second inning, including a home run by Kaitlin Cockcroft and a triple by Caroline Meriaux. In the 4th inning, the Chicklets scored 4 runs after 2 errors and a few hits. Emma Hanika came into the circle for the Chicklets and only allowed one run for the rest of the game. The game ended with a final score of 11:7 for the Chicklets.

In the second meeting of the day, the Wanderers managed to take revenge quickly. In the second game, Racqual Espinoza pitched for the Wanderers and Kaitlin Cockcroft for the Chicklets. In this game, too, the Wanderers prepared themselves for pitching from the start and scored four runs in the first inning. In the third inning, Louise McGarry hit home the first runs for the Chicklets with a 2 RBI triple. In the following innings, the Wanderers’ defense was strong and with, among other things, a diving catch in the outfield by Léa Karner, the Chicklets were unable to score any more runs. In the last inning, Léa Karner beat pinch runner Leonie Millauer from second base Heim with a walk off hit, ending the game after only five innings at a score of 2:9.
