In the new Covid-19 report corresponding to this August 5, the Antofagasta region continues to lead the number of PCR positivity at the national level with 21.65%, while, during this day, it was confirmed that Baptist College was added to the educational establishments that have had to resort to quarantine due to the number of infections in school communities.
This Friday, the region presented 674 new cases of coronavirus, leaving the breakdown by communes as follows: Antofagasta (357), Mejillones (23), Taltal (16), Calama (187), San Pedro de Atacama (6), Tocopilla (56) and Maria Elena (12). For their part, Ollague and Sierra Gorda did not register new cases.
During this day, The Antofagasta Baptist College went into quarantine due to the number of covid cases existing among the school community, a measure that the establishment will maintain until August 11. This school joins the rest of the establishments that are currently in quarantine in Antofagasta, a commune that has 1,830 active cases, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
