Comment “Word on the match day”: This BVB star is the hardness! | Sports

This BVB star is tough!

BVB new signing Nico Schlotterbeck (22) was already an interview guest at the Sky counter after the 1-0 win against Leverkusen, when the station played the pictures for the first time.

Schlotterbeck, as he falls to the ground in a duel, immediately grabs his shoulder with a pained face. Then how he runs to the sidelines, seeks a conversation with a BVB doctor, is treated in the player tunnel. Angry, the Doc sends the cameramen away. Shortly afterwards you see Schlotterbeck returning to the pitch.

The Sky reporters ask the young national player directly after his first home game as a Dortmund star: was his shoulder dislocated? Schlotterbeck: “I don’t know. The doc told me she’s back in now. And gave me the green light to continue playing.”

And then: “I’m a centre-back. You’re a bit tougher there.”

Harder, harder, Schlotterbeck!

It is one of the qualities that could make the defensive giants (who came from SC Freiburg for 20 million before the season) the most important new BVB building block to achieve their high goals and make Bayern the championship title in dispute.

He fights, toils, wears himself down. Goes where it hurts, has that bouncer vibe that scares opposing strikers. And gets the players involved!

In short: Schlotterbeck gives Dortmund what BVB has lacked in recent years. A defense stabilizer that goes ahead. And who lives the master hardness that it takes for titles.

Dortmund has invested a lot in offensive power. Schlotterbeck could give BVB the biggest boost. Just like the World Cup defense of national coach Hansi Flick.

This guy is just tough!
