Colombians with an uncertain future in Europe

Luis Sinisterra to Leeds United, Luis Suárez to Olympique de Marseille and Yaser Sprays Watford were some of the movements in the current transfer market in Europe. The Colombians did not have much movement in the transfer window, however, there are several who have not yet defined their future ahead of the 2022 – 2023 season that is about to start.

There are players like James Rodríguez in Al Rayyan who are waiting for an offer that will allow him to return to Europe and others like Santiago Arias in Atlético Madrid and Jeison Murillo in Sampdoria who are not taken into account in their teams. On the other hand, there are cases like Ian Carlo Poveda in Leeds to whom they will seek to transfer him so that his level continues to rise and thus be able to contribute to the team.

James Rodriguez

The future of James Rodríguez is increasingly further away from Al Rayyan. The midfielder was absent from the Qatar Stars League debut as well as other team activities. The player assured that he is not injured and is waiting to define his future. The creation midfielder is thinking of returning to Europe, but there would be no real options so far.

14 games, 5 goals and 7 assists was his balance in 2021 – 2022 in his first experience in Asian football. The player missed more games than he played in Qatari football.

Santiago Arias

After a season at Granada, Santiago Arias returned to Atlético de Madrid, owner of his sporting rights and with whom he still has a year left on his contract. Once again, Cholo Simeone does not have the right side for this season so the team together with its agents have looked for options for its future. Ajax is the only team he has been linked to, however, he would still be far from becoming a new player for the Dutch team.

In the last season, the defender played 613 minutes in 14 games in all competitions, in which he scored a goal. The player only played the 90 minutes in four commitmentstwo in LaLiga Santander and two more in the Copa del Rey.

Jason Murillo

After two and a half years on loan at Celta de Vigo, Jeison Murillo returned to Sampdoria after the Spanish team did not exercise the purchase option. Unlike other years, this time he could have more space in the team and the coach would study his presence in the squad, however, there are new options from some minor league teams like Turkey’s Trabzonspor.

The central defender accumulated the previous season 1,498 minutes in 22 games between LaLiga Santander and the Copa del Rey. He also added 1 Italian Cup game with Sampdoria against Alessandria.

Ivan Mauricio Arboleda

Iván Mauricio Arboleda returned to Rayo Vallecano, a team with which he has a contract until 2024 but has not yet officially debuted. The player spent six months on loan at Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina for six months and returned to the Spanish club, but again he would not have space and would be Andoni Iraola’s last option when defending the goal.

In his second stage in Argentina, the goalkeeper accumulated eight games in which he scored 11 goals and drew his bow in zero in 3 opportunities.

Ian Carlo Poveda

The Colombian-English winger Ian Carlo Poveda spent last season with Blackburn Rovers in the second division of England, but had to return to Leeds due to a serious injury. The player recovered and has added some minutes during the preseason, but within the club they are looking for some options outside. The United States and Spain are some of the options that they manage within the club. The weekend was not summoned for the match against Wolverhampton.
