Claudia Ferrández, an Aragonese with a lot of aim

While the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona 92 Olympic Games continued to remind us of Antonio Rebollo’s famous arrow that paralyzed the world, Claudia Ferrández from Aragon shone this weekend at the Spanish Archery Championship held in Madrid.

At just 20 years old, the goalkeeper from Borjana won the gold medal in the junior category and the bronze medal in the absolute categoryproving that, regardless of her age, she is ready to fight among the best.

This was his last junior national tournament. From now on he will always compete in the absolute category. But he still has to say goodbye at the continental level in the European Junior and Cadet Championships that will be held in mid-August in Lilleshall (Great Britain).

This coming Monday he will travel to Madrid to prepare for the appointment with the team for a week and then he will travel to British lands along with the rest of the members of the Spanish team, of a team that will try to make history.

In the team discipline, Claudia Ferrández will form a trio with Andrea Muñoz -from Madrid who recently came second in the Compound Bow World Cup- and Ana Pedraza, and is confident of obtaining an “important” result despite the “great level” that there will be between the rivals.

In the individual category, the goalkeeper from Borjana aspires to continue “growing” as an athlete and demonstrate the “good moment” that he is going through after the successes achieved in the Spanish Championship held in Madrid.

We are aware that getting on the podium or in the leading positions is going to be very difficult, but we have to give our best. The next few weeks are going to be very important. in terms of preparation”, advances Ferrández, who trains in Borja under the tutelage of the Madrilenian John Morago.

“He gives me the guidelines to follow and demands that I send him videos of my training sessions and results. Later, once a month I go to Madrid so that he can make the corrections he considers”, explains an athlete who, despite her youth, has been attached to the bow and arrows for around 14 years.

I started at 6. For me it was like a game, but little by little I began to see that I was quite good at it. At eight the first competitions arrived, and that is how I progressed until today. Archery is my great passion, and I hope to go far”, concludes Claudia.
