COMMUNICATION AREA FEB

Spain has successfully prevailed over its third rival in the group stage, Poland (65-37) in a match that was under national domination from the very beginning. After going 17-9 in the first quarter, the U18F took off with a 9-0 run at the start of the second quarter that put the lead at around twenty (26-9).

Poland found more success after the halfway point of the second round, but the defensive intensity and success from the perimeter of Irene Broncano allowed the difference between the two teams to be maintained at halftime (43-20).

Instead of relaxing, the team led by Bernat Cantu returned to the court full of enthusiasm and that was reflected in a strong defense that left the rival with only 5 points in the third period (58-25).

Thus, Spain secured its third victory in this U18 European Championship with a final score of 65-37 and the outstanding performances of Inés Noguero (14 points and a PIR of 15), Alicia Florez (4 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for 13 of PIR), Irene Broncano (11 points and a PIR of 14) and Marina Asensio (6 points and 6 rebounds).

Tomorrow will be a rest day in Heraklion and the U18F will save forces to begin the crossings. This Wednesday 10, the team faces the quarterfinals against the last classified of group B in which Greece, the Czech Republic, Latvia and Belgium participate.
