Köln. Germany’s captain Dennis Schröder is looking forward to the European Championship opener against France. “The mood in Munich was fantastic. Now it’s getting a lot fuller. It’s going to be incredible,” said the NBA professional in Cologne.

In the Lanxess Arena, the German basketball players will meet the European Championship favorites on September 1 (8:30 p.m./Magentasport). “We can hardly wait. We are ready, »said Schröder.

For the currently clubless point guard, it is the third European Championship of his career. Schröder expects a difficult opening game. «France have a very physical team, a very big one. We have to play fast », the native of Braunschweig gave an insight into the German tactics.

The French definitely show respect for the German team, even if some NBA professionals are missing in Maximilian Kleber, Moritz Wagner and Isaiah Hartenstein. “It’s a very difficult group overall,” said France coach Vincent Collet.

Collet did not want to overestimate the fact that the dress rehearsal against Bosnia-Herzegovina was lost last week. “We didn’t play well against Bosnia. But sometimes such results are not bad. We did a good job afterwards.”
