Cameron Woki regrets his gesture towards Christophe Urios

The player, who left UBB for Racing 92 at the end of the season, returned to this episode with finger on the lips in an interview with the daily L’Équipe.

In a long interview with L’Équipe, Cameron Woki returned for the first time to his transfer, he who caused a sensation by leaving UBB for Racing 92. The second or third row of the XV of France assures that the End-of-season tensions with the manager of the Girondin club did not weigh in his decision. “I read a lot of wrong things. It made me sad. I was hurt. Sometimes I even cried because I heard things that didn’t correspond to me.“He therefore wanted to deliver his version of the facts.

«My departure has nothing to do with Christophe Urios. Let things be very clear. (…) Yes, there were tensions after the episode in Perpignan. If I decided to speak, it is to say that I regret my gesture during the barrage against Racing. This finger on the mouth generated bad vibes within the club. But I repeat, Christophe is not responsible for my departure. We keep a very good relationship. We had a big discussion before the semi-final against Montpellier (19-10 defeat, editor’s note). Behind, the tensions disappeared. (…) This gesture is not me. It doesn’t look like me. It is the gesture of a frustrated and hurt man not to satisfy his manager.»

“In my heart I had this desire to return to Paris, to be closer to my family. »

And to explain the reasons for his departure, a year before the end of his contract with UBB. “Throughout the season that just ended, I was thinking about my future. I was lucky enough to receive two proposals from my president Laurent Marti to extend to UBB. But I decided to decline them. In my head, everything was clear. For after 2023, I did not see myself in Bordeaux. Racing 92, a very ambitious club, showed me interest. I also had in my heart this desire to return to Paris, to get closer to my family, explains the player who grew up in Bobigny. I left home young. My sister was 12 and I didn’t see her grow up. (…) Today, I want to live my career alongside them. Share my failures, my victories. If tomorrow I lose a game, I don’t want to have my mother on the phone anymore, I want her to be by my side. This is the most important for me.»
