Suspicious car had technical problems |
Police give the all-clear after 28 minutes of concern
Huge excitement in the BVB stadium!
During the Bundesliga game against Leverkusen, the spectators were not allowed to leave the stadium!
The reason: A suspicious vehicle with a running engine was found in front of Signal Iduna Park, which posed a possible danger! One person was taken into custody and taken to the police station.
According to BILD information, however, everything boils down to a false alarm! The fact that the car was still running seems to have had a technical reason. A first indication of an Islamist background has not been confirmed on closer inspection.
The police found no weapons and searched for possible accomplices.
At 8.20 p.m. the announcement was made in the stadium that the spectators should remain in their stands after the final whistle.
The police said on Twitter: “Important information for visitors to the Bundesliga match at Signal Iduna Park. A suspicious vehicle with a running engine was found in the E3 parking area. Since it cannot be ruled out that this vehicle could pose a danger, all stadium visitors are asked not to leave the stadium after the game has ended.
Please stay in your seats and keep quiet. We are currently taking our first measures to eliminate the dangerous situation. So that the police measures can be carried out undisturbed, we ask everyone to avoid the area around the stadium. We will inform you when the dangerous situation has been resolved.”
At 8:48 p.m., BVB was able to announce: “We would like to inform you that you can now leave the stadium in an orderly manner.”
After 28 minutes the all-clear was given…
NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU/69) to BILD: “It was a confusing situation. It’s good that the police noticed the anomalies so quickly and clarified the situation.”
