Bundesliga: Frankfurt – Bayern 1: 6 – The bang and scandal start | Sports

Crazy! Crazy! Just completely freaked out! This game defies description!

The Bundesliga starts the new season with a bang. Champions Bayern beat Europa League winners Frankfurt 6-1 in a sensational football game. At half time it’s already 5:0!

Coach Julian Nagelsmann (35) at Sat.1: “The first half was outstanding. I don’t think it will always go on like this, but we should be satisfied with the two games (before that 5:3 in the Supercup against Leipzig, ed.). The energy we play with is very, very good.”

Thomas Müller (32): “If you win 6-1 here in Frankfurt, that’s a perfect start.”

Even more: It is an unprecedented demonstration of power by the record champions – and the events are not only happening on the pitch!

▶︎ Anthem not to be heard!

Before the game, Carolin Niemczyk (32), frontwoman of the band Glas Perlenspiel, sings the national anthem. The Frankfurt fans make a fool of themselves for the first time, whistling so loudly that the anthem is partially lost. Probably a protest against the DFL and its opening ceremony – but it goes completely wrong.

▶︎ Goal not visible!

In the first few minutes, the Frankfurt Northwest Curve shows a “European Cup Winners” banner and ignites a few white smoke pots. They are partly to blame for the first goal they conceded! Trapp doesn’t really see Kimmich’s cheeky free kick in the short corner through the fog and it’s too late. Inside post, in, 1-0 (5th)!

▶︎ Bayern can’t be beat!

Then an insane full-throttle game develops – mainly from the guests. Pavard (11th/after a Kimmich corner), Mané (30th/after a counterattack), Musiala (35th/after a Müller cross pass and 86th after a Sané pass) and Gnabry (43rd/via a lob) missed a memorable one in Frankfurt attrition. Unbelievable: Musiala (27′) and Mané (33′) also hit the crossbar, Müller fails in front of a free goal (24′)!

It’s the highest half-time lead ever in an opening game. Eintracht literally breaks up after almost every ball loss. World champion returnee Mario Gözte (30/came from Eindhoven for 3 million euros) can only watch the debacle helplessly.

Then the next fan scandal at half-time!

A Frankfurt fan sneaks into the Bayern block and wants to get a stolen flag back from the Bayern fans. When he runs back to his own curve across the square, the folders want to catch him. Around ten other Eintracht supporters climb over the fence to prevent the folders from holding their fan buddy. After a scuffle, the fans go back to the stands. There are absurd scenes – and a disgrace for the Frankfurt security concept.

It’s also downright grotesque on the pitch!

In the second half, Bayern sometimes switched to arrogance mode, playing heel, tip, one, two, three. The coronation: Neuer tries to let Muani get out after a weak back pass from Hernandez. But that goes completely in the pants! Muani steals the ball from him and makes it 5-1 (64′).

Just a blemish in Bayern frenzy! In the end, Musiala makes it 6: 1 (83rd).

Johsua Kimmich (27) at DAZN: “It really made me want to be there on the pitch.”

Sees Frankfurt’s Sebastian Rode (31) differently: “Failed to start the season! We certainly imagined it very differently. So it became an absolute debacle in the first half. The four in front (Mané, Gnabry, Müller, Musiala, ed.) were incredibly flexible. It was indefensible. That’s how we got our ass kicked.”

Coach Oliver Glasner (47): “Bayern were simply too good for us today. We gave them too much space and wanted to bang our heads through the wall ourselves. We have ourselves to blame for that. It was a used day.”

It’s a spectacle on and off the pitch that will leave fans speechless! And the question arises who should stop Bayern this time…
