British Grand Prix: Pecco Show at Silverstone! Viñales continued to grow, difficulties for Quartararo

Unusual temperatures and sun shining on the Silverstone circuit, teams and drivers are ready to resume the show where they left off before the summer break.

When the traffic lights go out, Zarco takes off very well and defends the first position from an insidious Quartararo who starts in a sling from fourth position. It is the Frenchman of the Ducati Pramac team who dictates the pace at the start of the race but he is forced to defend himself from the attacks of Quartararo, in turn closely followed by Bagnaia and Rins. Johann Zarco seems to be really ok on his GP22, which doesn’t move an inch and goes to the apex perfectly at every single corner. Sixteen laps from via Quartararo he breaks the delay and decides to take his long lap penalty thus losing the second position and returning to fifth just behind Pecco Bagnaia. Own while everything seems to go perfectly for Zarco here is that the blindfolded goddess turns her back on him: he makes a small mistake in braking that costs him very seriously, he closes the front and ends up in gravel, going to waste what seemed to be a magnificent opportunity for victory.

Thirteen laps from the finish, and thanks to Zarco’s mistake, he is there Jack Miller in front of everyone. Unfortunately, however, the Australian from Ducati is unable to keep the lead for long, as a very fast Alex Rins, who has risen from eleventh position on the grid, overtakes the joker Miller and moves on to lead the race. Meanwhile Jorge Martin is running very fast, he is the fastest on the track with eleven laps to go; the Spaniard climbs the leading group on his Ducati Pramac and sets off in pursuit of Miller in fourth place. The rhythm of Vi is also excellentñales and his Aprilia: the Spaniard slips Quartararo visibly in difficulty, and puts himself in fifth position chasing Jorge Martin.

Pecco Bagnaia starts to pick up pace, that 9 laps from the checkered flag gets closer and closer to Rins’ Suzuki and begins to study overtaking. It does not take long for the Italian on the Ducati to measure up to his rival Rins, in fact Bagnaia scores a tear-off from his eyes, tears off the stickers from Rins’s bike and passes it when there are a few laps to go until the end of the race. race. He pulls, Pecco pulls as hard as he can in an attempt to put the little space that is enough between himself and his pursuers. He conspicuously suffers from Rins due to a drop in the rear tire and he is Miller who takes advantage of it and takes second position thus covering the shoulders of his teammate.

Maybe a little late, but how to say better late than never, here comes Enea Bastianini to the sound of fast laps. When there are only six laps left, the “Beast” goes wild and passes Oliveira, Aleix Espargarò, Mir and Quartararo one after the other, up to the exhausts of his rival Jorge Martin who will pass on the last lap to finish in fourth position.

But the day is Pecco Bagnaia’s, the victory is his! The Ducatista was very good at not getting nervous and not losing clarity when, on the last lap, a very fast Maverick Viñales attacked in an attempt to make the coup at the end. A weekend not started in the best way for Pecco who never gave up and believed in it until the end, going to take an extraordinary and very important victory also from a world perspective. The race of the leader of the classification Fabio Quartararo was difficult: it was an uphill race for the Yamaha Frenchman who, after the long lap penalty, was no longer able to reconnect with the leading group and was sucked up to eighth position.

Aleix Espargarò’s example of tenacity and resistancewho after the bad fall remedied yesterday in FP4 takes home a ninth position that is worth gold behind “El Diablo”. Confirms his state of grace Viñales, second at the finish line after a solid and full of tussle race. Also excellent performance of the good Jack Miller who returns to the Parc Ferme and brings his very official Ducati to the third step of the podium.

A world championship still to be written therefore, unexpected events and mistakes are always around the corner and only the most regular will eventually take home the title. Appointment in Spielberg on August 21st.

So this is the order of arrival of the GP of Great Britain: Vince Bagnaia, second Viñales, third Miller. Fourth Bastianini, fifth Martin, sixth Oliveira, seventh Rins, eighth Quartararo, ninth Aleix Espargarò, tenth Bezzecchi, eleventh B. Binder, twelfth Marini, thirteenth Nakagami, fourteenth P. Espargarò, fifteenth Morbidelli, sixteenth Dovizioso, seventeenth A. Marottimo Gardner, nineteenth Bradl, twentieth D. Binder, twenty-first Fernandez, twenty-second Di Giannantonio.
