Sébastien Haller will be absent from Borussia Dortmund for several months due to a tumor. So far, Edinson Cavani has been traded as a replacement. Now BVB has another solution in mind. The negotiations are ongoing. It’s about millions.
Anthony Modeste should close the gap at Borussia Dortmund that arose after Sébastien Haller’s tumor illness.
As “Sport1” reports, the Bundesliga club has already agreed a one-year contract with the 34-year-old attacker and submitted an official offer to league rivals 1. FC Köln.
According to information from the “Express”, both clubs are still a little apart in their ideas about the amount of the fee. Accordingly, Cologne demand five million euros for the Frenchman, who has a contract until 2023 and scored 20 goals for FC last season.
Modeste would come close to the requirement profile of Borussia, which has been looking for a similarly beefy attacker with a strong header like Haller for days, but allegedly does not want to spend more than ten million euros for the entire package.
Sporting director Sebastian Kehl promised the search would soon come to an end after the 1-0 (1-0) win against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday evening: “Of course we have created a few options and are on the right track. Something will probably happen – I think very soon.”
Haller, who was signed by Ajax Amsterdam for 31 million euros as the successor to Erling Haaland (Manchester City), will be missing from Dortmund for months after his operation.
Most recently, the Uruguayan Edinson Cavani, 35-year-old Manchester United striker, was traded as a Haller replacement.
