Basketball Summer League: Pollos gets its first victory in a competitive duel with CBZA

The fourth time was the charm for Pollos who beat CB ZA yesterday, 46-42, the game that opened the fifth round of the Tomelloso Summer Basketball League. In the San José pavilion, which is still a sauna in these days of intense heat, Pollos played the tricks of a high pace of play against an opponent of higher average age. At the break, he came out winning 31-22, leaving the feeling that he could win the game with ease.

But nothing is further from reality. The game’s revolutions changed in a third quarter in which CBZA, this time with a larger squad of players, turned the score around. His good defense meant that Pollos only got three points and his fluid attack gave him fifteen points, so the fourth ended 34-37.

The comeback touched the pride of the youngsters who returned to load pillar and came out more plugged in in the final twelve minutes. The point guard, Roberto Muñoz, began to run and impose the rhythm of the game that was most convenient for his team. Gaspar tried to respond with shots of three, but he was not successful and in the end the victory smiled on Pollos by 46-42.

Two new matches will arrive on Thursday on a track where the players slip away more than necessary, as the referees commented yesterday.
