Basketball, NBA: Slava Medvedenko auctioned off his two NBA rings, raised $ 250,000 for Ukraine

A few days ago, Slava Medvedenko had announced the intention of auction off his two NBA rings to raise funds for Ukraine. The sale went through, and the former Los Angeles Lakers player raised $ 126,767 each, for a total of 253.534$.

The money will be used for the reconstruction of bombed and destroyed schools and gyms in the ongoing conflict with the Russian military forces. Medvedenko explained how his Ukrainian winters are very cold, and children need safe structures to play.

Stanislav Medvedenko, known to most by the nickname “Slava”, was born on April 4, 1979 in Karapyshi, a town south of Kiev. After starting to play as a professional in the Budivelnik team, he crossed the Atlantic Ocean to join the NBA in 2000. he played with Los Angeles Lakers until 2006, winning two titles in the team of Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and coach Phil Jackson, before ending his career the following year with the Atlanta Hawks.
