TOKYO – The Danish badminton player Viktor Axelsen has become world champion for the second time in Tokyo. The Olympic champion and number 1 in the world was clearly too strong for Thai talent Kunlavut Vitidsarn in the final: 21-5 21-16. Axelsen previously won the world title in 2017.
The 28-year-old Dane lost only one match in singles this year and did not give up a game in this tournament in Japan. Dutchman Mark Caljouw lost in the second round with 21-19 21-10 to the world champion.
