ATP > Opelka: “For me, Roland-Garros is the only real Grand Slam now. The French allowed everyone to play, Djokovic and the Russians”

Reilly Opelka does not have his tongue in his pocket. He proves it once again during a long interview granted to the Red Bulletin in which he “destroys” the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open for their choices this year, sparing Roland-Garros where non-vaccinated players such as Russians and Belarusians were able to compete.

“I’ve enjoyed all four Grand Slam tournaments at different times, but right now Roland-Garros is by far the best. Clay is my least favorite surface, but I love Paris, and it’s the only Grand Slam that has done it right in recent years. All the others have been in politics. Australia didn’t allow Novak Djokovic to play, but I think they will allow the Russians to play. The French allowed everyone to play, Wimbledon bans the Russians but allows Djokovic to play and the US Open bans Djokovic but not the Russians. So Roland‐Garros is by far the best Grand Slam. For me, it’s the only real Grand Slam now.”dropped the American giant.
