Anthony Ginting Resigns, 7 Indonesian Representatives Qualify for the Round of 16

KOMPAS.com – A total of seven Indonesian representatives won tickets for the last 16 of the Japan Open 2022 on the second day of the tournament, Wednesday (31/8/2022).

The holding of the Japan Open 2022 today was also marked by the decision to withdraw from the Indonesian men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting.

Anthony Ginting as the sixth seed in the men’s singles is actually scheduled to face the representative of Thailand, Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

A few hours before the match, PBSI announced that Anthony Ginting had to withdraw from the Japan Open 2022 due to a low back pain.

According to Rionny Mainaky (Head of Binpres PBSI), Anthony Ginting is actually still practicing in the last two days.

However, Anthony Ginting still feels pain, especially when looking down.

Rionny Mainaky said Anthony Ginting started to feel pain in his back when he faced Viktor Axelsen (Denmark) in the quarter-finals of the 2022 BWF World Championships last week.

After consulting with Irwansyah (men’s singles coach) and the PBSI team of doctors, Rionny Mainaky finally decided to withdraw Anthony Ginting.

The other seven Indonesian representatives who played on the second day of the Japan Open 2022 managed to win and qualify for the last 16.

Of the seven representatives of Indonesia, Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo stole the attention because he managed to silence the mainstay of the host’s men’s singles, Kento Momota.
