Frankfurt (AP) – A defective espresso machine has led to an unscheduled landing of a Lufthansa plane at Boston Airport in the US state of Massachusetts. The plane was on its way from Newark (New Jersey) to Frankfurt on Monday evening (local time) when a smoldering smell developed in the first class galley, a Lufthansa spokesman said on Tuesday.

Since it was initially unclear where the smell came from, it was decided to stop in Boston. “Safety is always the top priority,” the spokesman said. After landing, the plane was checked by technicians, who discovered the defect in the espresso machine, which was repaired. According to the information, the guests were rebooked and were able to continue their journey.
