Goalkeeper legend Nigbur gives Schwolow Schalke tips

Enthusiasm sounds different…

Before the start of the season, Schalke goalkeeper legend Norbert Nigbur (74) judged Alexander Schwolow (30) on the commitment of Alexander Schwolow (30): “When I heard that Schwolow was coming, as a Schalke and Hertha member I threw up my hands over my head .”

At the time, when asked by BILD, Schwolow said: “I can only step on the gas every day and try to teach him otherwise.”

But then Schwolow was partly to blame for two goals in the first two. Nigbur could feel confirmed in his opinion, but he of all people is now encouraging the new keeper…

After his harsh criticism – Nigbur gives Schwolow Schalke tips!

The 1974 World Champion to BILD: “I have expressed my opinion about him. It doesn’t help now to keep hitting it after his two mistakes. It is important that those responsible cover his back in discussions. You have to hold on to him now, an emergency transfer would only cause unrest.”

Schalke should believe in Schwolow – and Schwolow should learn the Schalke DNA! Nigbur: “It seems as if he has a thin costume of nerves. I think it would help him to fully engage with Schalke. The hearts of the fans must open for him. Then that can inspire him. You can’t be afraid of Schalke.”

Another Nigbur tip for Schwolow: “My trainer Dettmar Cramer always said you have to hear a goalkeeper from the stands. Especially at Schalke you have to be loud. But if you then see that the man in front isn’t going away, you obviously have to punch. My motto has always been that the people in front have to listen to my word when I call. But that’s a thing that has to come with time.”

If Schwolow keeps his box clean, he automatically makes himself popular with the Schalke supporters. And so maybe quickly gets caught up in a positive whirlpool…
