After 22 years of absence, Judo championships return to Morelia – El Sol de Zamora

Morelia, Michoacan (OEM-Infomex). – This weekend, the Michoacan capital was the venue for the National Tournament “Professor Manuel Larrañaga Bonavides y Rivera” in the discipline of judo, so the town received athletes of said branch from at least 20 States of the republic in an event held from Friday the 19th to Sunday the 21st of August.

The president of the Mexican Judo Federation (FMJ)Lilian Estrada Bautista pointed out that the lack of interest on the part of the authorities of the sports in Michoacangenerated that, for 22 years a national championship will not be presented in the entity.

In an interview, he stated that both the Michoacán Judo Association, as well as the State Commission for Physical Culture and Sports (Cecufid), had not requested the Technical Congress of the Mexican Judo Federation host these events, which give points to the athletes who participate to be able to access acnational and even international competitions.

For her part, the President of the Michoacan Judo AssociationMónica Hernández Plascencia, expressed that Michoacán currently has good cadres to represent the entity in national and world championshipsamong which Emil Montes de Oca and Elizabeth García stood out, as those who accumulate more experience in competitions.

He pointed out that this type of event helps the rest of the competitors to generate experience and begin to earn points that can lead them to be great representatives of judo in the state, for which he reiterated that they will continue to seek for Morelia to become a ciudad where tournaments are a constant.

athletes from Jalisco, Querétaro, Mexico City, State of Mexico, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla and Michoacánto mention a few, are those who are competing in the aforementioned championship in the Child categories Sub-15, Cadets Sub-18, Junior Sub-21 and First Force.
