After seeing Matthijs de Ligt slip away at Bayern Munich and Jules Koundé at Barça, Chelsea have no intention of being robbed of their new priority in defense: Wesley Fofana. According to information from the British press, the former Stéphanois could even become this summer the most expensive defender in history. The Blues are ready to align themselves with Leicester’s demands, namely 100 million euros in compensation, to finalize the transfer of the 21-year-old Frenchman. The operation will then exceed the record of 87 million euros invested in 2019 by Manchester United on Harry Maguire, another defender of the Foxes.
But before closing the deal at 100 million euros, Chelsea have planned a new offer to test the limits of Leicester, who need to bail out their coffers quickly. If a first offer of around 70 million euros was refused by Brendan Rodgers’ team, the next one, of just over 83 million euros, could be enough to unblock the situation. For his part, Fofana would be very excited about the idea of a transfer to Chelsea.
