5 Most Wasteful Premier League Clubs in the Transfer Market

Club-club Premier League still competing in hunting for players in the transfer market looking at the new season. Here are the five most extravagant Premier League clubs in the 2022/2023 season.

The Premier League transfer market, which is still open until September 1, means that every club still has plenty of time to bring in the player of their dreams.

So far there have been names of stars who have enlivened the news of the transfer market. Call it Erling Haaland, Kalidou Koulibaly, Lisandro Martinez, to Darwin Nunez.

Clubs that bring in star players are not necessarily included in the ranks of the teams that spend the most.

Because there are clubs that bring in non-star players but have spent large amounts of money because the number of people recruited is quite large.

Here are the five most extravagant Premier League clubs in the 2022/2023 season:

1. Arsenal

Arsenal are listed as the most extravagant Premier League club in the transfer market this time. As of July 2022, the Gunners have spent £118.86 million or equivalent to Rp. 2.1 trillion.

The most expensive fee was when Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City for a fee of 46.9 million pounds (Rp853.2 billion).

The London cannon also brought in former Manchester City players besides Jesus, namely Oleksandr Zinchenkho. Arsenal managed to get the signature of the Ukrainian defender for a price of 31.5 million pounds.

In addition, the North London club brought in Fabio Vieira from Porto for a fee of 31.5 million pounds. Then there’s Matt Turner from MLS club New England (£5.7m) and Marquinhos from Sao Paulo at £3.1m.

Arsenal want to improve their reputation as a big Premier League club. Winning in the Europa League is one of the club’s goals in the 2022/2023 season.

2. Manchester City

Manchester City is the second most extravagant Premier League club. The total funds of 97.87 million pounds, or equivalent to Rp. 1.78 trillion, were spent by them.

The money was only used to bring in two players. Star status is the reason The Citizens have to drain funds for a new figure.

Man City signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £54 million. Then they recruited Calvin Phillips from Leeds United for £43.8 million.
