$5 million for Michael Jordan jersey?

New York – A jersey worn by basketball legend Michael Jordan could fetch millions at an auction in New York.

The jersey that Jordan wore in the first game of the NBA Finals in 1998 is expected to fetch between $3 million and $5 million ($2.9 million to $4.9 million) according to auction house Sotheby’s. Bids can be submitted from September 6th to 14th. The most expensive jersey to date is a jersey by Argentinian footballer Diego Maradona from 1986, which changed hands last year for 8.4 million euros.

Jordan and his Chicago Bulls had won the 1998 finals series 4-2 against the Utah Jazz. It was the sixth and last championship for the legendary number 23. Last year, a pair of American sports shoes was auctioned for $1.5 million.
