5 bronze medals for Morocco

Morocco continues to distinguish itself at the games of Islamic solidarity. Moroccan athletes engaged in kickboxing and judo competitions won five bronze medals on Tuesday.

As part of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games which continue until August 18 in Konya, Turkey, Hamza Hmidache won bronze in Low Kick in the -63.5 kg category by losing to Kazakh Berik Iskakov by 3 to 0, while Abdelali Zahidi (-71 kg) was beaten by the Azerbaijani Rahim Aliyev, 2nd in the world, on the score of 3 to 0.

Yahya Sabhi (-54 kg) won bronze after his fight against Atajan Atmuradov of Turkmenistan.

In Full Contact, Mohamed Yassine Mahssoun, ranked 8th in the world, also won the bronze medal in the -67 kg category after his defeat against the Turkish Muhammed Suleyman Gulle (27th) by 3 to 0.

Hafsa Yatim meanwhile won the bronze medal at the end of the last day of judo events by losing to Uzbek Yuldoshova Shrinjon in the under 78 kg category.

The first day of kickboxing events saw the participation of 8 Moroccan athletes out of the 22 involved in this discipline.

At the end of the 7th day of the Islamic Solidarity Games, Morocco won a total of 42 medals, including 9 gold, ranking 6th in the medal table.
