BOLASPORT.COM – The draw for the 2022 World Championship is not very friendly for Indonesia with one of the mainstay sectors, men’s doubles.

The gathering of mainstay pairs in the same pool is the cause.

Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan will fight to qualify for the final.

The spotlight is on Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo for their lowest record at the World Championships and major tournaments.

Even though they have been the number one men’s doubles pair since 2017, Marcus/Kevin are still unable to win the World Championships or the Olympics.

The Minions have never gone further than the quarter-finals, the final step that must be passed to at least get a medal.

In their last appearance at the 2019 World Championship, Marcus/Kevin even lifted their suitcases in the first round.

Marcus/Kevin were defeated by the dark horse pair, Choi Sol-gyu/Seo Seung-jae from South Korea, in a fierce match with a tight score of 21-16, 14-21, 21-23.

Meanwhile, Ahsan/Hendra and Fajar/Rian achieved better results in the same tournament. Both stepped smoothly before engaging in clashes in the semifinals.
